Campaign Story

My husband works tirelessly in our home state of Idaho, providing us with health insurance that we believed would cover all of our needs. But, when we encountered the hurdle of infertility, our insurance company made it clear that such provisions are not deemed “medically necessary”. This denial of coverage is not just a denial of a procedure, but a denial of our dream to start a family, something out of our control.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2019, it was so reassuring to hear there were others out there with what I have. After having difficulty in my childhood with excess hair growth and weight gain in unwanted places, you can see how that can make anyone feel they are different. One thing I knew for sure was I wanted a family of my own, due to how I was raised family was the center of our lives. I looked up to not only my parents for the sacrifices they made to have their own family and support them, but, my grandparents as well who helped instill the values I have today.
I had a hard time finding my person for the longest time because not only did I need someone who would accept my personality, but I also needed someone who would accept my PCOS inside and out. This led to one random night on an app meeting my now husband, Zack. Without even seeing each other, we connected on a deep level, from being able to talk and share without any interference—you could say a real “love is blind” kind of love.
The main topic that tested our love was children. Zack informed me he had made the tough decision to have a vasectomy performed, because of certain family members that had health issues. He didn’t want to be the reason his child suffered by passing on something detrimental to the child. You don’t hear a man being that aware and concerned and that drew me to him, because I also, was concerned if I would even have the chance to have a child of my own someday, so who am I to judge when I was just as unsure and unfamiliar with the world of fertility. With us being on the same page, we took the leap of faith, and fast forward to the year 2023, Zack and I, on September 1st, were pronounced married in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by both of our family and friends from all over the United States and moved into his family home in Twin Falls, ID.
After working on the debt from the wedding, and the many losses and changes we had endured during 2023, in the present time, we are close to being debt-free and decided it is time to try and expand our ever-growing family. We started with genetic testing to see what exactly Zack would pass along. Turned out to be nothing of major concern and between the 2 of us on paper we are genetically compatible. This gave us more reassurance and we scheduled the cosult infertility appointment. The appointment turned disappointment as I was told that I had a blocked fallopian tube and we would need to do IVF, for even the chance to experience a positive pregnancy test.
With that devastating news, I went into a deep dive into what IVF entails, and the cost would put us right back where we are and more thereafter.

I went looking to our insurance, just to find they only cover diagnostic of infertility, after I am confirmed to be infertility they do not help with the process of conceiving. I looked to my government for programs that help those becoming parents, we didn’t qualify due to either having insurance coverage or too much money but still being considered at the poverty line. Looked to the community but there is little to nothing out there for science assistance.

So, we ask for help, to have the chance at parenthood, that we so desperately wish to have.
